We are very pleased that this year’s “IAS Fighting Day 2026” event is coming to an end. Polish National Parks and the city of Suwałki rose to the occasion despite many administrative difficulties. Due to the different specifics of each park, things looked varied across locations, but everyone shared the same goal: the good of our Polish nature. Every action involved at least 50 people who had the opportunity to learn about invasive alien species. They listened to presentations and saw invasive alien species in the wild, which proves that the initiative was justified in every respect. Removing these species also provided an opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge in practice, which always yields the best results. There were competitions with prizes and refreshments. In summary: the event took place in 21 national parks and in the city of Suwałki, gathering over 1,000 participants in total.
On behalf of Wigry National Park, which was responsible for coordinating this initiative across 22 national parks and the city of Suwałki, I would like to thank all the Coordinators for their efficient work and immense help with its organization. You can always be counted on.
